The Pedestrian Fight Against Freight & Port Related Safe Street Challenges

The harbor communities of Wilmington and San Pedro are located at the most southern tip of the City of Los Angeles. Adjacent to North America's two largest ports and major oil refineries, its location is a source of working class jobs.

However, it also creates a number of safe street and public health challenges, especially related to freight traffic. Through a campaign called Calles Seguras Familias Sanas, over the past three years the community and safe street promotoras have been organizing the City and elected offices to secure life-saving pedestrian infrastructure.
